These days we live in a world where there's so much information it's hard to know what's real, what's fact, what's truth, and what's complete lies. Some people spread lies on purpose to induce fear, and some people spread lies thinking they have accurate information, however in reality, it's just something they've heard someone say and they took it as truth. So how do we know what's true? Honestly, sometimes we don't, but what we can do is do our own research and use critical thinking to try to figure it out.
I heard a quote the other day that said, "You cannot give the responsibility of knowing the things you need to know to someone else." I thought this was wise advice, and very true. We need to be more educated on the things we think we know about the world, or at least admit when we don't know enough to have an opinion, and then do our research to find the facts instead of leaving it up to someone else to tell us what's true and what's not. It's also always best to be as informed as possible so that we can make good decisions, and as hard as it is to hear the truth at times, it's better being aware then being left in the dark. More importantly, we need to be experts in our own lives. This can only come from self-awareness and self-reflection. Knowing ourselves and having our own values and beliefs helps us take in information, analyze it, compare it to who we are and what we need, and see if it fits. If we take time alone and consult our inner knowing, it's not too hard to find what we already know to be true. The hard part is pushing aside what culture, society, and social media is telling us to do. This is sometimes difficult because of our wanting to belong, however, we can all belong and still be our unique selves if we will allow it. In fact, I think this is what we're supposed to be doing... walking our own path, making a difference in our own unique way, and crossing paths here and there to support each other on the journey.
So the next time you find yourself buying into someone else's ideas, thoughts, or beliefs, or doing what everyone else thinks you should do, stop and take a moment to consider if this aligns with your inner compass. What is your truth telling you at the deepest level? The good news is that when you do this you'll find yourself on a path where your true nature can't help but lead the way. It also can't help but be excited, confident, and intrigued with where it's headed. This is the path to your purpose, and it all begins with finding the Knowing that lies within you...
